Job Description:

The HC Systems Architect & Technical lead will lead technical efforts related to the development of Harris' Clinical Integration Network suite of products. This technical leader will interface with Executive Management in Healthcare, Product management, customers and the development organization to ensure that their product fully reflects the market needs and strategic goals of the organization.  Specifically, the technical lead will be responsible for the development efforts related to clinical application products related (but not limited) to: Referral Management, Vocabulary/Translation services, Medication Reconciliation, Population management, etc.


Required Skills

  • 5-10 years of experience in the healthcare industry.  15-20 years developing large-scale, distributed, semantically interoperable systems.
  • Experience with Enterprise Architecture modeling techniques to create the right-sized specification to which agile development teams design and implement.
  • Ability to develop design and architect solutions and specifications that drive user stories in the Agile product development backlog.
  • Ability to create Agile-based user stories that can be fully understood by the development team and relevant stakeholders.
  • Product Development experience in a dynamic and Agile Healthcare environment. 
  • Clinical background and experience that drives a better understanding of the stakeholders and customers benefiting from the Harris Healthcare Solutions product suite.
  • In depth knowledge and experience in the Design, Architecture, and specification related to the following Healthcare concepts: Vocabulary / Transformation / Translations Services, Referral management (e-Referral), Medication Reconciliation, Allergy Reconciliation, Population & Diabetes Management, Cross Enterprise Orders, etc.
  • Experience in design and development in interfaces/interoperability solutions for Healthcare products.
  • Strong experience designing and working with n-tier architectures along with a minimum of 5 years experience building SOA solutions.
  • Specialized knowledge in Health information Exchange technology and healthcare delivery.
  • Ability to provide technical depth and sales/business acumen.
  • Ability to provide a complete and thorough presentation and explanation of Harris Healthcare Solutions products or concepts to senior level management, customers, or internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to fit into the overall software development lifecycle.

Specific technical skills:

  • Experience creating interoperable SOA systems, not isolated products or solutions. Must be passionate about reuse, common models and industry patterns for assembling a system.
  • Must understand how to construct components that can be packaged and deployed as desired to help the organization break up product silos into product packages of cohesive components.
  • Experience in semantic technologies like coding, ontologies and taxonomies.
  • Experience in knowledge based technologies like fuzzy algorithms, expert systems, policy based systems, etc.
  • Experience in event-driven technologies for messaging, enterprise architecture integration patterns using ESB as integration medium, workflow (human and system) for managing long-running transactions.
  • Cloud-based SaaS architectures – involves designing elastic solutions, distributed state, availability and scalability, etc.
  • Master data management strategies for community owned data
  • SOA and cloud based security strategies using PEP, PDP, PIP, PAP model.
  • Modern persistence technologies for indexing, caching, search and analysis. (No-SQL stores come to mind).
  • Experience in interfacing to proprietary EMR and lab systems.
  • EMR and lab system etc. capabilities.

Specific Technologies:

J2EE, OSGi, Web and Restful services, Drools, Service Mix, CXF, Apache MQ, jBPM, JMS, memcache and hazelcast, Apache foundation components, RDF, OWL, JSON, XML, W3C standards.

Specific Healthcare Standards:

RIM 3, CDA, SNOMED, LOINC, HL7 2 and 3, Lab, Rx, IHE standards, S&I framework, ONC Exchange and Direct
