Assist in the Research and Development efforts of the Signal and Information Sciences Laboratory of Applied Research Laboratories by participating in the design, implementation, testing and evaluation of data management applications to support DoD modeling and simulation activities.

Essential Functions

Design, develop, test, and integrate software and data structures to meet requirements of sponsored research projects. Test software developed by non-ARL:UT project personnel Communicate with project team members and supervisors for timely implementation of project requirements. Develop design and test procedures and test reports. Contribute to research publications and software documentation. Prepare and deliver presentations of project updates. Technical direction of student employees.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree in mathematics, computer/software engineering, computer science or other applied sciences. Knowledge of: Java, HTML, Java Script and XML; conceptual data modeling, metadata development, and business process/workflow analysis (entry-relationship modeling, UML, RDF, OWL, XSD, BPEL and model-driving development); service-oriented architecture (SOA) design and implementation of Java server-based applications and both thin/thick client interfaces. Strong technical writing skills. Ability to work independently with sensitive and confidential information, maintain a professional demeanor, work as a team member without daily supervision and effectively communicate with diverse groups of clients. Able to work under pressure and accept supervision. Regular and punctual attendance. US Citizen. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibilility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position.

Preferred Qualifications

Bach degree in req area/two yrs exp in soft develop for data engineering/process analysis/interoperability. Knowlege:industry/US government sys lifecycle/sys engineering processes/architecture framework/design specifications; Ontology development/alignment/semantic web technologies/knowledge modeling/knowledge representation (OWL/RDF/XML/Schema/XSL); distributed data services/web services (Spring/ActiveMQ/RabbitMQ/OMG DDS/ETL frameworks/JAXB/WSDL); generation of simulation data for Mil training, T and E analysis/planning sys; defense-related data standards(UCORE/C2 Core/DDMS/MSC-DMS/GFM DI XML/NFDD/SEDRIS EDCS/GML/TSPI/sensor/geospatial standards. 2 yrs experience: developing software in Java/C++/Multiple scripting languages; systems integration/system interoperability/migration/transition of legacy business processes and software solutions; user interface development/information visualization (OWF); development of military (HLA/DIS/TENA distributed models/simulations. Coursework: rules/reasoning based solutions/decision support/course action analysis/system design validation; distributed knowledge/information fusion/data fusion; discrete event simulation. Cumulative GPA of 3.0.
