Job Summary/Basic Function:

To perform research and development including mentoring graduate and undergraduate students working on funded research projects and provide coordination leading to meeting project deliverables for the funded project and support activities to secure future funding through writing proposals. Participate in writing research publications resulting from project team’s research.

Programming proficiency needed: Java, Java Servlets, JSP, Javascript, PHP; Databases: MySQL, Oracle, Virtuoso RDF; Data Encoding: XMLXHTMLRDFOWL;IDEs: Eclipse, Netbeans; Servers: Apache Web Server, Tomcat, Google Web Toolkit; Operating Systems: Linux, Unix, Solaris, Mac OS, Windows; Technologies: Shell Scripting, Bash, Indexing (e.g.Lucene); Semantic Web: Ontology development tools (JENA, Protégé) and other knowledge representation APIs. Web 2.0 (mashups) /Socila Networking (including use of APIs).

Minimum Qualifications

Earned Ph.D. in CS or Biomedical Informatics

Preferred Qualifications

Applicants with expertise in online software testing to determine software quality are highly preferred. Experience in evaluation and refinement of online software designed for information extraction from textual data is also important. Knowledge in the use of Semantic Web tools for qualitative and quantitative analysis/interpretation is also significant. Knowledge of statistical reliability testing highly desired Demonstrated expertise in software development using Javascript frameworks(ExtJS, Prototype, JQuery, etc.), Web application development and/or deployment using data exchange formats (JSONXML)

Essential Functions and percent of time:

The project involves unstructured text processing to determine emerging practices and knowledge from user generated content in the prescription drug abuse domain. Applicant will be expected to spearhead software design, testing and evaluation of data collected from online web communities. 100%

This position is funded from an agency external to Wright State University and is therefore contingent on the agency’s continued support. Special contract terms and conditions of employment apply.
