Job Description:

 

As an IT Support Specialist with Rocket Software, you are part of a global, high-paced IT organization with a primary mission to provide world class service to software development labs and internal departments ensuring our employees have state of the art tools to perform as the highest level. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for configuring new laptop hardware, procurement of hardware and software for end user support, deployment and management of images. Emphasis on highly uniform setup and configuration for all new employees.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Management of Laptop & Desktop images, ensuring images are released with current software, configuration of applications, OS Patches and fully functional hardware
  • Evaluate and install new software releases, perform system upgrades, evaluate and install patches and resolve system related problems
  • Perform installation and troubleshooting of disks, NICs, memory modules, CPUs, and other hardware
  • Assist with administering security and email accounts in Active Directory
  • Support Service Desk with end user requests and documentation
  • Usage or internal, web-based issue tracking software

 

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of experience supporting Windows OS and image deployment
  • Excellent interpersonal & customer service skills with a strong focus on listening to the end user
  • Knowledge of Active Directory, Login Scripts, and understanding of Group Policy
  • Complete understanding of desktop and laptop hardware & troubleshooting
  • Understanding of networking concepts and configuration: the OSI model, TCP, IP, routing, firewalls, Ethernet, ATM, Frame Relay, and serial connections
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Desire and ability to document configurations in support of a larger team
  • Ability and motivation to learn new technologies quickly and with minimal support and guidance

 

Plusses

  • MAC OS experience a big plus
  • Linux experience a plus
  • A+ Certification or equivalent experience
  • Experience with centralized antivirus consoles – Symantec, ESET, Kaspersky
  • Experience with WDS, WSUS, and/or SCCM
