Database Software Developer

Job Description:

 

The software developer will work on an agile team that leverages scrum, lean imperative, and other adaptive software development styles.  The focus will be on Software development in Java and C++ to implement an X-Tree index focusing on geospatial data in the Cloudbase data store.

Geospatial Integration: Application development and R&D to enhance how the geospatial data is managed

Data services software: Services to optimize data regionally by moving it to the data centers that are predicted to need it (information about the Korean swim team staged on a Korean data center, etc)

 Software engineer will serve as a member of a team responsible for providing support to the intelligence community efforts, as well as engineering efforts towards creating a database index that allows exposure of mass amounts of data with Multi-layered Security (i.e., label security). We provide key support on data visualization tools, maintaining network connectivity, and integrating new computer technology into the intelligence analysis process. The requirement is to develop an open system design that supports a multitude of data sources from various agencies and then exposes the combined data through various tools.

The specific opportunity is for software development and engineering work to support the Intelligence Communities efforts to take a technological leap ahead in how they do business.

Responsibilities include:

- Manage and develop a “next generation” implementation of existing Cloudbase database capabilities.
- Develop, use, and manipulate a variety of data sources that are available to the local customer Information varies from basic HUMINT reporting to well formatted SIGINT data 
- Developing creative solutions to various all source intelligence problems
- Combining various software capabilities to provide a unique set of intelligence that was not readily apparent before applying new data management solutions.
 

Education:

Bachelors and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science preferred. Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Advanced degree and certifications desirable.
 

Required Skills:

**All applicants for this position must possess a current Top Secret/SCI security clearance in order to be considered for employment.** The ideal candidate will have a broad background in information technology, database design theory, indexing, and Geospatial data management. The candidate must be able to work in an environment where flexibility and technical problem solving skills are required. The candidate should be skilled with C++, Java, database development, data indexing concepts, and working in a cleared environment.  5-10 years minimum experience with the above skills required.
