GLOBAL ENGINEERING AND DELIVERY

Position Description As Technical Lead, you will lead the delivery of services and solutions around content discovery and metadata management. You will bring a delivery focus and expertise, specific to product and platform development. This is a unique opportunity to be involved from the very beginning of the Content-as-a-Service platform giving plenty of opportunity for the right Technical Lead to shape , deliver and evangelize it.

You will be responsible for working as part of a larger platform team to deliver a set of common, open, shareable technology capabilities that will enable the discovery, retrieval, and management of content within and across Pearson Op erating Co mpanie s, as well as within and across a diverse technology applications landscape.

· Provide hands-on technical leadership, create detailed designs and supervise implementation & deployment using existing and emerging technology platforms .
· Produce documented reusable development processes and frameworks
· Partner with external organizations to understand the latest trends in search and semantic technologies and implement them effectively
· Collaborate with multiple project teams to ensure design and platform services meet customer requirements
· Estimate and define development tasks; analyze and estimate cost and time.
· Conform to system architecture standards and best practices as defined by the Enterprise Architecture team

Candidate Profile Education, qualifications, experience and skills

· Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science , Engineering , Mathematics or Physics
· Alternatively a Master or PhD in other disciplines (e.g. Chemistry, Biology) with a research topic that involve d semantics or taxonomy.
· Proven technical leadership for the end-to-end design-implementation- delivery of a software platform .
· Experience leading projects containing members from a distributed team
· Experience in building search solutions
· Experience defining content and metadata standards
· Experience in building solutions using Semantic web technologies
· Proven e xperience in agile development practices including setting up / managing development environments and continuous integration & automated testing environments
· Experience in defining development best practices
· Exposure to Service Oriented Architectures and REST concept
· Hands-on experience with technologies such as XML, Java, Solr, ElasticSearch, RDF, OWL, MongoDB, TripleStores
